Andrei Kobyakov met with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov met with his counterpart from Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, who from 10 to 12 August on an official visit in Belarus.

Andrei Kobyakov sure, that 2015 will be symbolic for the Belarusian-Pakistani relations. According to him, this year laid a solid foundation for closer economic relations. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that a year later countries will come to an entirely new level of relations. Promote this is primarily the creation of joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission for trade and economic cooperation. In Minsk, August 7th of this year, its first meeting took place.

The existence of this institution, Andrei Kobyakov said, will also contribute to the fact that the parties will soon increase trade and economic turnover. According to the Belarusian head of Government, $ 58 million turnover, which was formed at the end of 2014, far short of the potential of the parties.

Andrei Kobyakov noted that one of the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation is the creation of Pakistan's industrial assembly productions of Belarusian machinery, as well as joint ventures for the production on the basis of Belarusian technologies and raw materials of dairy products.

Speaking about the assembly production of tractors MTZ, Andrei Kobyakov expressed his willingness to go to supply SKD kits. To this end, the Prime Minister said, the Belarusian side need a reliable partner in Pakistan, which enjoys the confidence and support of the Government.

Andrei Kobyakov also assured its readiness to consider establishing joint ventures with Belarus in Pakistan enterprises manufacturing textile products from Pakistan's raw materials. To do this, Belarus is ready to provide the production site of the textile enterprise in Baranovichi - one of the largest textile companies in the entire post-Soviet space.

A promising, according to the Belarusian Premier, would be to create a joint venture for the production of carpets from Pakistan raw materials on the areas of  Brest carpet factory. These products, he believes, can be very popular in the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.

To make these projects work in full force, Andrei Kobyakov suggested Pakistani counterpart to work out the question of signing an intergovernmental agreement on industrial and scientific-technical cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties decided to agree in October 2015 a project roadmap of development of relations between Belarus and Pakistan. Responsible for preparing the draft document will be co-chairs of the joint committee.
Also during today's meeting in the Belarusian government, the sides discussed cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals, oil and gas field, establishing air links. In addition, Andrei Kobyakov reminded that during the May visit of Alexander Lukashenko in the Pakistan, countries created the conditions for the full development of bilateral cooperation in industry and agriculture. In this regard, he suggested the Pakistani side to work on a regular basis on the convergence of positions in these areas. Effective negotiating platform in a joint commission could be a meeting of the working groups on industry and agriculture.

Also didn’t stood aside and the theme of the possibility of cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan by creating a triangle Minsk-Beijing-Islamabad under the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor. Andrei Kobyakov said that Belarus has experience in large infrastructure projects (in Venezuela, Turkmenistan).

Nawaz Sharif, in turn, thanked the Belarusian side for the warm reception and shared impressions of their stay in our country. He noted with satisfaction that thanks to the initiative of the Belarusian President in the last three months, the countries significantly intensified bilateral relations.
