Comfortable premises for the sake of keeping and growing. How many calves nurseries will be built in Belarus by the autumn of 2026?

Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin has signed the Council of Ministers’ resolution on building agribusiness facilities.

The document was worked out by the Agriculture and Food Ministry as part of the efforts to fulfill the Head of state’s and the Government’s instructions to transfer calves into comfortable premises for the sake of keeping and growing as many as necessary to satisfy the demand as well as instructions to build storage facilities for flax straw. The Council of Ministers resolution provides for compiling a list of organizations and investment projects for building animal husbandry facilities.

There are plans to build 615 animal husbandry facilities (nurseries and calf barns), including 528 calf nurseries. In order to ensure proper storage of flax straw, seven flax mills have been chosen and will have to build facilities able to store 23,000 tonnes of straw.

The facilities are supposed to be built using proprietary resources of the organizations, including in-house resources, money from municipal budgets, credit resources fueled by state budget subsidies and other legal sources.

A list of agribusiness organizations has been compiled. As they implement investment projects in 2026-2030, the republican budget will grant them subsidies to pay the interest rate on loans. The subsidies will be equal to the refinancing rate of the National Bank (as determined by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No.80 of 16 February 2026). The number of investment projects to build calf nurseries stands at 293, with the number of investment projects to build calf barns at 5.

The heads of oblast administrations, district administrations, and legal persons that work in the field of agribusiness will be held personally responsible for commissioning the animal husbandry facilities for calves and flax straw storage facilities on time.
