Igor Petrishenko: CIS Economic Council supports Belarus' initiative on economic measures

The CIS countries supported the initiative of Belarus on the need to work out measures to counter Western sanctions and to maintain the sustainable development of the CIS economies, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told the media following the meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow on 18 March.

“The members of the CIS Economic Council supported the proposal of the Belarusian side: a special group within the framework of the CIS Executive Committee will be set up together with the governments of the CIS countries to monitor the current situation and to work out measures to promote sustainability of the CIS economies,” said Igor Petrishenko.

In his words, the current global situation is pushing the CIS countries to defend their interests more actively. “Today's situation has pushed all members of the CIS Economic Council to be more active in expressing the positions of the parties and submitting proposals,” the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
