Belarus, Uzbekistan seek to expand trade, investment ties

Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko is on a working visit to Tashkent. The Belarusian delegation includes representatives from the Industry Ministry, Agriculture and Food Ministry, Bellesbumprom, and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Yuri Shuleiko held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev. The parties noted the strong momentum in bilateral trade, which grew by over 30% in the first 11 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The parties discussed in detail the progress of implementing projects in the fields of industrial cooperation, agriculture, woodworking, and pharmaceuticals, and also considered promising areas for further boosting mutual trade and investment cooperation.

The talks also covered the schedule of upcoming bilateral visits and events this year, such as the next meetings of the joint Intergovernmental commission, the Belarus-Uzbekistan Business Council, and the Forum of Regions, along with both countries’ participation in the INNOPROM exhibitions held in Belarus and Uzbekistan.

During the visit, Yuri Shuleiko also met with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov to discuss cooperation in this area in detail.

Following the meetings, the parties confirmed mutual interest in further deepening mutually beneficial Belarusian-Uzbek cooperation and their commitment to facilitating the implementation of planned projects in priority areas.
